Default 2004r speedo gear ratio

I know this has probably been beat to death but I still can't find the answer to what I need. I have removed the th350 from my '76 and am installing a 2004r. The rear gears are going to be 3:70 and I am running 18" Nitto NT555 285x40x18 on the rear. I don't have them mounted yet - still installing the tranny and having the rear end rebuilt - but the specs say the tire is 27" in diameter. So, I removed the drive gear from the 200 and it has 13 teeth. How many gears do I need on the driven gear??

Thanks for your help!

You cant get there with a 13 tooth drive gear. It would take 36 teeth on the driven gear and 2004R gears only go from 26 to 31. You could do it with a 10 and a 27 or 28.

I'll check and see what I got if you're interested.

'75, thanks for the reply. When I calculated it out I got a 36 also but couldn't find one. So what I need to do is replace both the drive and driven? Check and see what you have and let me know.

What would you need for a 10 and a 27?

It has had the edge ground down a little to clear the drivers side exhaust pipe, but has not hurt the sealing. Made by PML.

Sorry, it just sold over on the Turbo Buick forum. $100 https://turbobuick.com/threads/deep-...r-sale.456946/

BTW those guys know the 2004r tranny's as good as anyone if you run into problems. I have a super servo for the 2nd gear band, but depending on who built the trans, you may already have one.
