Default 1970 carpet and seat cover fit

I am getting ready to buy some interior parts for my 1970. I was just wondering who to to buy from for the best fit and quality. Ready to buy carpet, seat covers and center console stuff.

Who you use is up to up. Is there a major aftermarket provider near you? Could save on shipping costs.

I know it is up to me with so many differnt suppliers I thought I would see what experiances other people had. No place close for shipping. I would rather spend a little more and get the best product I can. Best deal is not always the cheapest. Thanks for the input.

Hi Ray,
There are just 2 or 3 manufactures of seat covers and carpet; the various name vendors distribute them.
So it's wise to speak to the vendor to see who's covers/carpets they're selling. By knowing who is selling what, you can compare prices too.
Vendors sometime have interior soft parts and other interior parts on sale so it's good to be aware of that.
The manufacturers also sell what they make direct to customers.
I've been pleased with the seat covers made by Al Knock.
Are you planning on installing the seat covers and carpet yourself?
Regards,
Alan

These are Al Knock seat covers.

Willcox will take care of you AND gives discounts during the weekend sales. call them, they will help you with ordering and any sales going on, or coming up. They back what they sell. NOW don't wait a year or two to call in about a problem with what you ordered wrong, or some problem during installing the parts, do the install right now, when problems can be taken care of now. This is true with anyone you buy from.

Not to mention a lot of the technical diagrams and 'how to' documents on this forum come from Willcox. That right there is enough reason for me to spend my $ with them.

I bought my carpet from Corvette Depot in Canada, who import it from Corvette America. The set came pre-cut and formed. Holes for seat belts and floor bolts must cut and minor trimming is required. I have no expertise on who makes the best product, just presenting another option.

Hi,
"The set came pre-cut and formed. Holes for seat belts and floor bolts must cut and minor trimming is required."
This is a good point from 70Sting.
In addition... if you wish the front of the seat track and the front track mounting bolts to be covered by the carpet, 'flaps' need to be located and cut in the carpet.
This isn't so much of an issue if the seats aren't most/all of the way back; because when partly forward the front of the seat cushion hides the tracks, but not when the seats are moved back.
Regards,
Alan

The carpet will need some trimming to fit .I sat my carpet in for a couple of days to settle and trim a little piece of carpet where needed ,test fit and trim some more, test fit and trim again. Allow a weekend just for carpet. If you a having heat issues now is the time to fit dyna mat or something else.

sometimes sitting the carpet in the sun on a sunny day will warm up the carpet to make it easier to work with.

As for the seats, if you go with all leather... they are really, really, really hard to fit over the new foam... but what a difference when you sit in them. Leave them in the sun or use a heat gun to make them more pliable. I had to trim some of the foam as well.

Thanks for the information and the pictures, What a differance between the 2 seats. I'am not installing the leater covers but thinking of trying it myself. Thanks again.

if you use a thin layer of dry cleaner plastic over the foam it will slip right on
