How do I remove 4 bolts holding brake booster that are outside on firewall
Bought booster/MC form The Right Stuff. They directed me to post question here,
I removed master cylinder and proportional valve ok from 1980 but noticed that the booster is held on to the firewall by 4 bolts.
The bolts are on the outside part of firewall and space is super limited.
I did a search and could not find a hit on this.
Is there special tool or super long wrench that is used to remove the brake booster? Thank oyu

Are you in for a treat! There are some threads explaining the process in here somewhere. I replaced mine a few years back with the Right Stuff unit. Some guys spend hours trying to get at the bolts but there is one bolt that is difficult to get at. But if you remove the drivers seat and then the steering column, which isn't that hard, then its a cake walk. Your choice how you want to do it. But there is a member who swears he did the job in an hour or so without removing the steering column. Might want to search for his thread. Good luck!
Edit: Here's the thread I was referring to - https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...made-easy.html

FWIW, Resdoggie is correct. Under the dash is where to remove these. Piece of cake as long as you are double jointed and can fit inside one of those glass boxes. If you are not double jointed, well...good luck. You may be when you are done.

The bolts are outside of firewall and not under the dash

Yes, and the nuts for those bolts are under the dash.

I think you should post a picture of what you've got as it doesn't seem stock.
On the stock booster bolts are studs fastened to the booster and it's held to the firewall with nuts that are accessible only from under the dash. All c3 vette boosters were the same mounting setup
Perhaps you're talking about something other than the booster

Need picture
Does your booster look like the one I showed above? The only way there are 4 bolts showing on the engine side of the firewall is if someone changed it to a hydroboost unit

here you can see the brackets attached to back of booster..the 4 bolts protrude from the firewall and the bolts go right thru the 4 holes on brackets. so the booster is mounted on to the bolts..hope the photo shows up. thanks guys

that doesn't come apart there.
I think they sold you one for a chevelle or nova probably a F-body (Camaro/Firebird), the one I show above is for a 76-82 vette

Can't seem to find "this unit" for a 1980 C3. My mistake ? I don't know, doesn't look right though.
This the right one for a 1980.

If everything lines up ok that one you posted the picture of may work though. But it isn't a C-3 style booster.

2022 C3 of the Year Finalist - Modified
I don't believe this thread.....no way does any C3 Corvette use the one the OP posted. It would not fit, and will not work. If the OP isn't screwing with us, I challenge him to post a picture of it installed in a C3 Corvette.
