Door Ajar vs Door Jam switch 1969
As I was doing some sanding of my door jams, I found that both of the rear switches were broken off. So after some reading on here and reviewing the AIM I came to the conclusion that.
1. The front switch is referred to as the Door Jam Switch
2. The rear switch is referred to as the Door Ajar Switches
Am I correct in assuming that the function of the Front Door Jam Switch is just to light the courtesy lights and the Rear Door Ajar switch is just to light the small door ajar light on the dash above the center gauges?
Do the have any other function?
Lastly, when ordering these, are they the exact same switch? Both my Door Ajar switches are broken off so I can not compare.
Thanks for any ideas anyone may have, Pete

Easy Mike and John.
I will chase the wiring a little more to see how the buzzer fits into the picture and make sure I purchase the correct "smaller" switches for the door ajar.
Thank you

Hi Pete,
"I will chase the wiring a little more to see how the buzzer fits into the picture"
The horn relay buzzer sounds when the driver's side door is opened IF the ignition key is in the switch.
The wiring for the buzzer is part of the courtesy lamp circuit so is operated by the switch in the driver's side hinge pillar.
If the key is out of the ignition switch only the courtesy lamps illuminate when the door (either side) is opened.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan,
I have ordered the rear door "AJAR Switches" Its hard to believe that chevrolet spent the time and wiring just for one small light on the dash that says "door AJAR" and didn't just tie it into the courtesy light switch?
Anyway, thanks for checking and clarifying that the front switch drivers side also is tied into the buzzer with the courtesy lights.
Its important to me that everything functions as intended on this car.
Pete
Thanks Terry,
No Alarm option on my 1969
