Default 1978 Corvette exhaust questions

I have a 1978 Corvette Pace Car edition, it is an l48 automatic, and I live in California so I have all of that smog junk. I am going to buy a set of carb approved Hedman headers; Part # 66301. I had planned on making my own front y that goes into the cat since the headers go past the normal crossover area. I was looking at exhaust for a 1982 corvette which is similar to the idea I had for my exhaust. Would I be able to do some little modifications to get this exhaust to work for my 78 or is it so far off that I should just make my own exhaust? Keep in mind I am not the best welder at all. If you guys can also tell me anything else that might work for me it will be greatly appreciated.

I noticed that the jegs website has a lot of contradictions when it comes to that, but if you look up the actual EO # it says it is legal for my application.
