Default Mechanical Oil Pressure Hose

I'm struggling with a simple problem; can you folks help me identify the location where the mechanical oil line runs through the firewall on a 1972 corvette? I'm replacing mine but the old one was removed before the engine went back in and I can't find the grommet the hose went through. A picture would be great if it is visible in the engine bay.

Hi Mitch,
The oil pressure gauge line passes through the firewall in the same 4-hole grommet as the tachometer cable and back-up light connector.
Regards,
Alan

If you're not into originality I suggest getting a braided steel line kit to keep your interior from getting oiled in the future if the plastic line breaks.

Thanks, where did you purchase this? Will it fit the small block? Where did you go through the firewall for the gromet?

Summit and it comes with all the fittings needed for the block and the back of the gauge.

Thanks, I will order it, do you remember where you plumbed it through the firewall? it looks like it has its own rubber grommet, probably because of the diameter. Real estate under the dash is tight and any good advice is much appreciated.

I had the dash completely out at the time so I just drilled a new hole through the firewall and plugged the small hole where the old line ran through with some black RTV.
