Ignition lock cylinder removal question.
When removing the ignition lock cylinder does the cylinder need to be set to lock? My Vette never came with keys and the cylinder turns without it, just doesn't go into lock without key. I've got a new lock cylinder with key that is ready to install.

Having the ignition lock cylinder in the LOCK position makes it so when you slide the new lock cylinder into the steering column..it will line up with the internal part.
It is NOT a must that you have to. So if the ignition switch is ON...then the new one needs to be turned the same.
