Were the body threads stripped? Is there a nutplate behind those rivets?

Both of mine are stripped out so I pulled the switches. I do plan on reinstalling after fixing the thread issue.

Nice Vette.

Nice job and great pics! I’ve never had to do this before but always imagined that I had to do something with the two rivets. Don’t know what that “something” was, but it always scared me. Now I know better

Very Nice Work!
Thank you for the pictures.
My replacement switch was poorly threaded which forced me to clean up the original and reuse it.
You were fortunate it threaded into the original body mount.
Again very nice work

I just replaced the nut plate this past weekend on my 69 coupe.
I still need to add some more fibreglass resin around the plate to clean up the appearance a little more. Car was originally yellow and you can see the original paint under the blue.
It took me literally 8 minutes to get the plate in and riveted.
I used the piece from Corvette Central but also shaved it down a little bit to get it to fit in the hole behind the access plate in front of the rear wheel. It was not hard to install.

It was on there when I ordered it .... probably for packaging/shipping but I left it on there as a cushion... seems to work fine, but it’s just a foam/rubber tube... very soft and flexible
