Gas/ oil on intake.
I have a 77 383S. The engine has 800 miles on it. What creats a quarter inch round but a quarter inch deep of oil or gas? On the intake after a 50 miles of driving.

You need to dip your finger in it, feel it and smell it.
If it feels and smells heavily of gas, then it's coming from your carb.
If it feels slippery and has a lubricant smell, it's oil. then it could be coming from your valve cover, or your distributor seal. It also could be coolant depending on which coolant you are using and its not dirty.

I had oil start showing up on my intake 1 yr after installing a new GM ZZ383. Pulled the front bolts, 3 of 4 had no sealant on them. Pulled the rest to check, they were fine but cleaned, sealed an torqued down to specs. No issues since.

Thanks guys. It's gas. But it suprisess me, because the carb brand new. And by the way. It's on the front left on the manifold. It's a 650 Holly carb.
thanks John.
