Phoenix rising back from the ashes. My L82 motor
Most of you have seen my postings about my motor perils after having a shop rebuild my motor last May and the following oil usage and water in the oil.
Here are some progress pictures from the new shop of the short block.
New Scat Rods
Hypereutectic .040 pistons
Lunati Bracket Master Cam and Lifters
Still to come Edelbrock Aluminum 185 CC heads w/ 2.02 valves.

Looking good Len!
Looks like this one is done right. Should run quite a bit stronger too with some good heads.
Make sure they put sealant on the rocker arm studs on the new heads!!

I am sure they will. The machinist is very particular about what he does. That's why he is going through the new Edelbrock heads to make sure they are perfect.

The heads were taken off to fix the valve guides but did not do a pressure test after the re-assembly. So the coolant leak wasn't found until there was damage done to the valve train that lead to metal from the cam going flat in the engine.

I am 100% confident in this new shop. They are doing several cars from our Corvette Club so I know those people would only trust the best.
I am hoping to have the car back next week. But I will wait to make it 100%

Spend time on your tune. Not sure what final compression will be...but hypereutectic pistons don't like detonation. Don't let it ping or rattle ever.

Will do Jim. They indicated right at 10:1 compression with the Edelbrock heads. I always run 93 octane gas so that helps too.

Exactly Jim which is why I used JE Forged racing pistons in my L-82 355 in 2014 with 10.2 compression with the AFR heads. I run 89 octane with 1 7/8 LTH headers and a roller cam and have zero ping under any throttle positions including low RPM lugging. It will not ping but I did have to richen the jets up after the headers went on.

Here are some pics from the fully assembled engine. Looks like it will be back in the car tomorrow for break in.
The heads had a couple valves that were not perfect. They corrected that and now the heads are perfect.
I am stoked. This will be the best engine the Vette has ever had.

I just got it back Friday and drove it home. I drove it today it it runs great! Will do some more tests when I get time to take it to a long stretch of highway.
Here are some pictures back in its home (engine bay) and ready to rumble.

Is that a numbers matching block and your car, for the most part original?
I just never got over the Corporate Blue paint. I'd have gone Chevy Orange myself.
Great you have it back and it's running well after all you went though.

I kept all of the original parts like the heads & rods etc.

Corporate Blue looks better with a silver car in my opinion. I have a silver car with blue interior, if I ever pull my engine out I want to switch from orange to blue.
