Default 69 Air pump for show only

I have a 69 Roadster with a 427 and am restoring it to original condition. The air pump and associated hardware will be reinstalled but I do not want to sacrifice the horse power. Is there a way to not pull the horses but still have the belt to the pump attached and what effect would there be on the engine using the most efficient way of disabling the pump?

Thanks in advance.

IMO... most of the power that is robbed from the air pump, is from the belt its self.you will not feel the difference.

The air pump with belt and everything may rob 1 HP. I have seen some people gut the air pump but it is really not a HP robber. You won't notice or feel it.

I agree X3.

Do as you wish but the effort will not be able to be felt in the seat of your pants.

If you REALLY want to see what can be done to increase power. Put the car on a chassis dyno and start playing around with it.
