Default advice initial set up for Vansteel 360 lb spring in '80

Finally ready to install the composite spring. Just to help come close on the initial set up, does anyone have advice on how far I should thread the nuts up initially to come close to the original ride height. The spring is 360 lb, 1/2" shortened. I have the Vansteel 8" bolt kit. Shocks are QA1 single adjustable. Tires are original size - 255/60R15

I just installed a 330# Vansteel Composite in my '70 built 1/2" shorter each end like yours. I also have 8" bolts, but tires are 235/70R15, so nearly an inch taller than yours. My shocks are Bilstein HD's. I started the Nylock nuts and ran them up so that I have just a couple of threads out the bottom. The car sits perfect. I would start with 1/2" of thread out the bottom of the nuts and see how it sits.

REMEMBER not to tighten the 4 spring bolts up into the rear cover until you drop the weight of the car onto the spring. Also, be aware that the end bolts WILL install at a fairly healthy angle, so don't get worried.

Thanks for the details on this. Sounds like a good starting point.

Do you have any photos of your install which you can post. A visual would help and for all the good stuff Van's does, instruction graphics are not amount them.
