I should re phrase.... lower options without spending a fortune...
If you buy the coil over.... can you get away with just the coil/shock ... $400 or do you end up spending 2 grand?

From this photo... looks slightly higher or same as I have as stock right now

An extra 1-2 inch inches or so, to be honest, is not going to make any difference if my C3 has to straddle a raccoon or dead deer...no chance. Have you looked under a C3 to see how much clearance there is underneath one of these cars...NONE! My half coil cut on the 550 springs lowered the front end 1.5 inches and I can live with that reduction since it is really very little since the car is very low to begin with. About the only animal that these cars can straddle is a chipmonk, squirrel, or mouse.

You end up spending $0 for the front if you cut your existing spring.

i may try a different shock and different alignment shop and see what I get. I did exactly what you did and my car pulls to the right badly. The alignment shop said they did all they could

Jetglow I think you forgot to take tire diameter into consideration. I think your tires on my car would hit the top or not go on at all.

You sure that you do not have any front brake caliper issues or worn suspension components like tie rods, ball joints upper and especially lower ball joints, upper and lower control arm bushings as well as steering box play. I doubt it is just an alignment issue. Everything needs to be in perfect shape...

new ball joints, new control arm bushings, and rag joint seems good. Car drove straight before lowering it

Hi Guys, I cut one coil off the front which lowered it by 1 3/4" and went with C4 10" bolts and cut them down to 8 1/2" drilled them for a split pin and castle nuts(make them look a bit stock!!)

Just curious, guys who have cut their springs and what not (not gotten a coilover package), how do your shocks hold up? With other cars they tend to blow out quicker with a lower ride height. TIA.

That's not a problem with Bilstein HD shocks.

Default GW Lower Control Arms?

Forum: Any thoughts about the GW Control Arms?
Many of us would like to do a 2" drop or more in some cases.
This sounds like a good idea.
Suspension travel is a good thing for comfort! lol

If I hit a dead deer on the road cut or lowered springs would be the last of my worries.
