Lower My C3 -Please tell me what I need
I did some searching and I'd like some input and where to get parts to lower my C3 ... I have not decided on 17 or 18 inch wheels yet, but I am going with TT2's
From what I understand ....I need 550 coils for the front and longer bolts for the rear. Looks like everyone used to use VBP but now they are out of business.
Where is the best place to get these parts and what will my luck be with an 8, 9, or 10 inch bolt? I would also assume that I need to replace the old bushings.
Thank you in advance!!

550 coils should lower it about an inch and longer bolts, 8" say, will lower it about 3/4". I wouldn't recommend 10". Where is it now? What spring is in the rear? What shocks are on it?

I currently have about 2 1/4 inches from the top of tire to bottom of wheel/fender lip.

I went with QA 1 coil over from summit racing. I texted them and they recommended the unit I used because of the aluminum parts I had added. They are adjustable in height and stiffness and have improved the ride and handling.

Seeing you have to remove the spring regardless to change the front ride height, you can save some money by cutting a full coil off the original spring. This will lower the front by about 2".

But there is something to be said for being able to go back to stock height if you find the new height less to your liking than you thought...

Then you can lay out the cash for a new spring. But done properly, cutting will get you the exact height even if it takes a few cuts. Buying a new spring is by no means a sure way to get the height required. You may still have to cut a new spring.

You can cut your coil springs, but just go into it knowing that the ride quality will get stiffer. The more you cut, the stiffer it will get.
Adjustable coil-over shocks allow you to dial in your ride height without the adverse effects of a stiffer suspension.

I bought 550 springs and cut 1/2 a coil. Got the ride height I wanted but ride is stiff and alignment has issues. So I am saving for coilovers in the front. I bought rear stock bolts for a C4 to lower the back

Correct!
I cut 1/2 coil off aftermarket 550 springs 1 inch lower than the Stock OEM GM 550 springs and there was no difference in the ride quality with the Bilstein HD's before and after the cut>>>>No issues with the front alignment or any rubbing issues.....it is low though..............But handles so much better!

I went with the QA1 single adjustable GS507-09450D because I have aluminum Heads intake and radiator along with lighter headlight operators. They are adjusted almost all the way down in this pic. but they are settling a bit more now that summer is here and the car is getting some use. I paid around 600.00 dollars last winter at Summit
