Installed a headlight rebuild kit in my C3 (1978) and have painter's tape around the opening and the doors but it looks like the doors are cutting the tape. What are the steps to "centering the doors and their travel?

Not knowing all what you did when you installed the kit...and what ever this kit you bought had in it that you replaced.

All I can offer is I am guessing the side to side play is off and you need to adjust the round collars and lock them in place when adjusted by using the Allen wrench it took to get them loose.
