Default Gear drive for MSD 8572 to cast dist. gear on a steel billet core

What to go for, MSD 8471 (bronze gear) or Comp Cams 12140 (composite gear) ?
Cam = Comp Cams cast dist. gear on a steel billet core

Thx,
John

Write to MSD and ask them.
5 years ago, when I asked them about putting my old MSD-8572(bought in 1996) in my roller-cammed RamJet 350 they told me it would be ok. I pulled it out earlier this year and the gear looks fantastic.
Not sure if it's the same situation, but just write to MSD and ask. It's easy enough and they responded promptly 5 years ago.

I have one of those MSD bronze gears on the scrap pile with maybe 7k miles on it. The engine has a roller cam, it's half worn out. I was surprised. Ordered a gear directly from the cam manufacturer [Cam Motion]. T

Lunati everwear gear. Seen composites last, others break and cause damage.
You can use bronze but be prepared for a shorter life and dust in your oil.
Straub sells an AMPCO45 bronze gear thats decent.

Just ensure that you get the correct shaft diameter. I went from a Mallory to a MSD E-tech dizzy and they are different.

If you have the cast gear on your cam, you can run a standard steel distributor gear. You don't need a special gear, that is the point of the cast gear.
