Where to buy individual exhaust pipes
Hi guys!
ive built most of my exhaust system. I just need the small S type bend that wraps around the transmission/ goes through the trans crossmember.
does anyone know where I can buy this? Dont fancy buying a whole new exhaust kit for this 1 pipe.
Being european exhaust shops are something thats unheard of. Yep, the carworld is boring here!

you cannt buy complete front exhaust pipes, the bend is not a separate part

Assuming you have a bone-stock 1979 with the stock exhaust system, your car should have a "Y" pipe coming off the exhaust manifolds and coming together into a single exhaust pipe section. This section has a slight "S" shape to it before entering the catalytic converter - it is called the Intermediate pipe. After the converter, the system has another "Y" pipe, splitting the system into 2 pipes and the two mufflers. This is the stock configuration.
Unfortunately, that short "S" Intermediate pipe that is located between the forward "Y" pipe and the catalytic converter is discontinued by all the exhaust system manufacturers as a stand-alone piece. You can buy it from Paragon Corvette, but you also have to buy the front "Y" pipe assembly. It's part number 7337K, and price is $165 for the two pipes together.

Melting Slicks
Shipping could be expensive but found these two, assuming you mean the pipe that connects to the catalytic converter. You could always post a WTB on the c3 Parts Forum also:

I had assumed he had converted to a true dual system, thanks.

The easy answer to your question is to 1) take measurements needed to create the piece required (see detail below), 2) go to a local muffler shop [stay away from the national chain stores], 3) ask them to make the piece you've drawn up,and 4) install it on the car.
Measurements: incoming pipe inside and outside diameters; distance separating the two pipes; offset distance between centerlines of the two pipes; outside diameter of the exiting pipe.
This is what they do for a living. It can be made up in about 10 minutes. BUT, it is a "special" made piece and you will pay extra for it because of that. Just show them your drawing/dimensions and ask them how much it will cost. Also ask if you can wait for it or if you need to come back when called. If the latter, ask them when it can be done (so they don't just sit it on the 'back burner'). It shouldn't cost over $50 to make up one piece--unless you live in New York City.

They don't have "muffler shops" with bending equipment in Europe like they do here in the States. That's why he has to buy a correctly-made piece to install... We should open one and make a killing..!

Dang, Lars... I'm getting too old. I didn't even check to see where he was located. Geez... How do they get pipe/muffler work done over there???

Sorry for the very late reply
We don't get custom exhaust work done here, its illegal, like all the good stuff. Pre made/ E marked exhausts are allowed..

Oh, and I forgot to tell I indeed have true duals.
needles to say why I want to replace this bit of pipe...

As I see it, you have three options:
1) Write to the manufacturer of aftermarket pipes that you want, explain your problem (that you cannot have that piece made) and request the purchase of the single pipe that will give you what you need;
2) Buy a length of flexible exhaust pipe and put it in the system. Wrap it with exhaust heat-wrap if you think it needs it;
3) Cut the section you need from your old pipe and wrap it with sealing exhaust tape; then weld it back in.
P.S. My preference would be to give #1 a shot.... Good luck!

Cheers!
yeah, I prefer option #1 too!
I wonder if it's possible to make an S bend with a tool like this :.https://m.ebay.com/itm/0-180-Handy-light-Duty-Steel-Hydraulic-Tube-Tubing-Exhaust-Pipe-Bender-6-Dies-/273245865341?oid=192425116510 ?
probably not,but always worth asking. It's only 2" pipe on my exhaust, wich flows into 2.5" after the trans crossmember

I would go to the pick-a-part junkyard(do you have those?) and look around for a reasonable facsimile.

How about if someone over here can get it made and send it to you? What are the "issues" involved with something like that? There are only a few dimensions that would be required. I have a place here in town that could make that piece in 20 minutes. But I have no idea about how to ship it to you and the involvement of customs, etc.
I'm willing, if you can assist with the process of getting it to you.
