What are these little cables in the cowl of my '80?

it looks like bubba "fixed" this before you got it. if u give more pictures showing overall condtion of the entire area I can maybe guess better, I have the 81 aim and didn't see anything like that. I doubt the 80 to 81 models are that different to as not have it on the 81.

A couple of the vendors sell cables like this that hook up to the hood releases, and act as backup if the primary hood releases fail. You just reach in the cowl, and pull them to release the hood?

I know what your saying, but the mounting bracket holes indicate this would be harder to access then if you just pulled the plugs and poked the latch directly. to reach this part it looks to be parallel to the top of the wheel well. also note the splintered fiberglass, no way that came from factory that way. im curious myself to know what that is, hope we get more pics!

IIRC the cables are factory and had something to do with helping to keep the doghouse in place in the event of a collision.
