Pulsing through steering wheel, pulling away/reversing
Hi, I have a 74 with th400, and when reversing out of the garage, or very slow manoeuvres, putting the car in or out of the garage, often with foot riding the brake, I get a pulsing through the steering wheel, that can be felt on the brake pedal also.
I’ve just installed a new Borgeson steering box, and it did it before this, and after.
The pulsing is faster than the rotation speed of the driveshaft or half shafts, and I don’t notice it when driving normally, under braking etc.
I’m wandering if the trans is at fault, torque converter or something?
Any ideas as to what it could be?
Thanks, Tim.

That’s a strange set of symptoms. It could be the trans mount is starting to rip. Try giving it a little gas while in reverse. If it gets worse, check the mount. Other than that I would check the brakes. A dragging caliper can make the steering pull.
