1980 - power not getting to the horns, they work when tested, not sure where to find the horn relay, does not appear to be in the fuse box, cannot find a square looking relay in the fuse box. there is spark at the contacts in steering column but not sure if everything or anything is not working properly. Any and all help would be appreciated.
Horn relay is up under the dash on drivers side and is about 1" x 1" x 1" in size. It will be very close where the hood release cable is. It does not reside in the fuse box.
If you are referring to the contact in the steering column, it is based upon completing a ground, no power required there.
If you ground the contact in the column, the horns should work.
You can bench test the relay also, by removing it, apply 12v to the correct pin, ground the correct pin and you should see 12v on the last pin which would go to the horns.
Just to let you know, on the relay, if you hook 12v to terminal the the orange wire plugs into, and then ground the terminal that the black wire plugs into, you should see 12v on the last terminal which would normally have dark green wire plugged into it. The dark green wire goes forward in the wiring harness to the horns.
