Edelbrock XT Sequential Port Injection
#63
So, I ran into a small issue that was mostly my fault. Remember I said I didn’t use Edelbrock’s fuel pump signal wire?
Well, with regular key on power as you might expect one would do to power the pump, the issue that comes up is the key on power dies momentarily as you engage the starter. This moment is long enough to drop fuel pressure enough to not open injectors. So, Peter at Edelbrock tech explained the signal wire to me. They switch the ground instead of 12v power so they can momentarily hold pump on as long as the rpm signal detects rotation.
So, in closing- use the fuel pump and fan signals even if you have already wired them from previous mods as I had.

I have just a couple of questions. Where did you purchase this? Did you have to special order the red? Do they have a kit that comes complete? And last, about how much did you end up spending? I'm pretty sure I'm going to do this to my car, but I'll have to use the fuel pump that comes with it. Thanks very much, Dave.

i think the “kit” probably runs about 2100 or so. Edelbrock does have a fuel pump kit which I didn’t use.
The air intake is something you have to figure out on your own as no drop in is available, but that was easiest of all I had to do.
The manifolds only come raw aluminum cast. I spent a little time removing all the components to paint the intake myself. That’s just rattle can work. The top is a little special. I painted black, then sanded off the black to leave the reveal only left in black.
So, I guess one might spend 2700 -3000 or so to do it all at the most.
Update on performance: just got to drive finally. Had suspension to finish. It’s pretty cool. Cold high idle functions, easy start- no touching the pedal, smooth performance. One cool feature, when you decelerate coming to light or letting off quick, the injection shuts off just like in modern electronic injection. I can’t image the savings in fuel with this feature.

Thanks for the info. I purchased a black powder coated one from summit last night. I know I still need to figure out the supply side, but I have plenty of time. It seems I'm going backwards on my project because eveytime I do something it leads me to two more things I want to do. The red looks good.

Good luck with the project

on closer look at the link- there’s no pcm, throtte body, etc? Why would they sell it like this? Wouldn’t it cost way more to add all the harnesses, etc to the manifold this way?

they do sell just the manifold but I bought the whole kit. The kit I bought doesn't come with a pump or regulator or lines. Thats what I meant by I need to figure out the fuel supply.

I'm curious how this Manifold will compare to the GM LT1-4 that the late C4's used. Interesting thing is that those were produced by Edelbrock for GM, so they certainly know what works best themselves. I assume that GM also had Edelbrock cast the Ram Jet as well. I always liked the Accel Super-Ram for the SBC now that Holley owns what little is left of Accel one would think that maybe they would start casting them again to compete with this set up. A good old fashioned Intake Manifold Test is in order here.

I'm in the process of installing a Pro-Flo 4 on my '77.
I'm using the non-XT system that has the 4150 style throttle body.
I mounted my ECU in the same place you did.
I have not yet decided on a location for my ignition coil.
Where did you install yours?
Edit - Never mind. I found your Facebook video and saw your coil on the driver's side of the firewall.
ECM on top of the A/C box.
Top down view with harnesses in place.
