Default Recommendations for a manifold for a ZZ4 crate?

What's a good manifold for a ZZ4 350 crate motor in stock condition? Currently has a Holley 670. If you've seen my other threads on this car I'm going to take the blower off it until I get pistons, rods and rings lined up.

Thanks!

You seem bound and determined to buy this car. So be it. Make it so.

What's it gonna cost you, done deal … to own this car with it parked at your place?

If you have the zz4 manifold use that. Otherwise just put an Edelbrock performer on it. The zz4 runs out of steam just after 5000 rpms, so you don't need anything trick.

Which one? There's apparently several versions.

EPS would be a good choice with the ZZ4 cam, if your cam has been changed out for a larger cam, then an RPM version is likely best.

The Chevy ZZ4 manifold actually outperforms most of the aftermarket intakes on the SBC including Edelbrock intakes in tests I have read....If I was looking for an non stock intake I would look for the aluminum ZZ4...........over just about any of the other aftermarket ones

I would just double check all the basic stuff and then drive the car. Leave the blower on it just make sure all the spark and fuel are right.

I love this thread. Ask for a manifold suggestion and get a blower. That is exactly the right thing to do.

To bring you up to speed, the car as I got it came with a blower that the previous owner put on it not a manifold. I have concerns about whether this engine is right for a blower as discussed at length in another thread so I'm contemplating switching to a manifold for the time being and wondering what a good one would be.

Ebay has them cheaper at a slightly cheaper price than a new edelbrock 2101 would cost.

In that case I'd avoid the edelbrock. It probably makes the most power but I despise the fact they put that vacuum port just behind the carb, almost forcing you to use one of their carbs (because the holley sticks out too far and will interfere). I'd either get that one in the previous post or a Weiand.

Another thought would be bigger chamber heads. Then leave the blower there. Those 58cc chambers are tiny. And the heads are nothing special port-wise, just small chambered for raised compression on a regular short block.

I'm told it should really have forged pistons as a minimum, forged rods preferably. Plus appropriately gapped rings. Someone said they didn't think it needed the gapped rings because it isn't enough blower but I've seen where someone had trashed ring lands with this same blower.

Source is Car Craft Magazine^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Again, numbers do not lie^^^^^^^^. The ZZ4 aluminum manifold is more than a match for the edlebrock performer (beating that one handily) and a match for the Edelbrock performer RPM on a fairly high HP/TQ motor. GM claims the the ZZ4 makes the same HP/TQ as the famed high rise LT-1 manifold BUT is 0.5 inch shorter in height. The RPM makes 4 more peak HP than the ZZ4 but 1 less ftlb of peak TQ, none of which can be felt on 450+ gross HP motor...it is a meaningless difference and probably is no difference on a sub 450+ Gross HP motor. The only reason to go with a performer RPM is that it may be slightly less money than the ZZ4...performance wise there is no meaningful statistical difference......
