Default Those of you with BTO 200-4R Trannys

Stage 2 or Stage 3? - Specifically for the guys who are running a Stage 2

My 396 SBC is running between 450-500HP, which is the break point between the versions. Want to see how everyone else is doing with their unit and if they wish they had gone with a Stage 3. Rear end is currently a 3.08, but I have a 3.55 spare that needs rebuilt and I might go to 3.70 in it, if it matters.

I have their stage 3 700r4 and it has held up, but if it ever goes it will get a 4l80 or tko 600 5 speed. Why not go with a 80 and be done with it?

Probably cause I'm too cheap to lay out $600 extra for a quality controller.

that 3.08 gear aint gonna cut it with your engine. .. go 3.70 and stage 3 ...I have 525HP, I had 2.87 , went to 3.31 ..then to 3.73 ...... that's the goldilocks ratio with overdrive and big cams 80 mph @ 2550rpm

My 9-car has a 434 SBC in front of the BTO 200 r4 for the last 4 driving seasons with 3.08 out back. It is a very nice driving combo though definitely not designed for any type of racing. The engine was built for high low end torque not rpm and gitz up to 100mph for those necessary times of passing others without ever breaking a sweat. T

find someone parting an older diesel with one.. done or get a 0411 ecm from a car in the junkyard for $35 send it out to have it reflashed for TCM mode only.. now you just need a harness and add a tps to your carb

I have the BTO 200-4R Stage 3 in my '77 and I really like it
Like Fishslayer143 said, the 3.08 will be disappointing.
The engine, and you will be happier with 3.70 gears.
