Default exhaust manifolds heat shield

Hello,

first I want to introduce myself: My name is Carlos, I am 49 years old and I was born and grew up in Stuttgart (Germany) where my interest for cars comes from. Now I live in Valencia (Spain). I have now 20 cars, but here in Spain there are no experts for classic US cars.

Before asking this question I have searched in the forum and did NOT find any answer, so here I go:

I have a 1969 Corvette Stingray with small block, stock exhaust manifolds and side pipes. The engine is a small block (5.7 litres) that was modified to 6.6 litres and also "more aggressive" cam shafts. The car has the stock air conditioning fitted with the Harrison A6 compressor. The AC tubes/hoses are very close to the passenger side exhaust manifold.
I know that there are exhaust manifold heat shields for 1980 Corvette C3, but my mechanic says that we could use them on my car with some modifications.

Has anyone already done this or can help me?

Please see the attached pics of these exhaust manifold heat shield. The first pic is the driver's side exhaust manifold shield and the second one is the passenger's side exhaust manifold shield that is more urgent due to the AC tubes.

I hope you can help me...

Thank you and best regards from Valencia

Carlos

This is original shielding on a small block going into a 1969 corvette. The shielding you have shown does not seem combatable with original exhaust manifolds. T

https://www.ecklerscorvette.com/corv...E&gclsrc=aw.ds why would they not be compatible? looks like same exhaust fits everything but blue flame six and big block... this later shield may even be better. https://www.ecklerscorvette.com/corv...1976-1980.html

Why not look at something to protect the AC lines?

BMW has been doing it for 40+ years...

Or you can look at an aftermarket product like this-

I would suggest re-routing the lines. Let's see a picture of your engine compartment and a/c lines. Last year when I replaced the condenser on my a/c I rerouted the lines so they're away from the exhaust manifold. It may simpler and cleaner just to get some longer hoses and route them away.
