Turn Signal Fuse Blows, have hazards

Turn Signal Fuse Blows, have hazards
Hoping for some troubleshooting guidance. Here is where I'm at.
1. Turn signal fuse blows if I turn them on (either right or left)
2. I have hazard lights and all 4 corners are flashing
3. When I stick the fuse in the turn signal location I can tell that there is immediately a power draw. I'm not sure if that is normal, but it seems strange. I can tell this because my batter is a little weak and the interior lights dim noticeably when I put the fuse in. Then as soon as I turn the signal on the fuse blows.
I'm guessing I have a short somewhere. Any known problem areas I should check first? Any useful ways of eliminating potential areas without taking things apart (I hear steering column shorts are common, but I'd like to know for sure before taking it apart).
Thanks for your help!

Can you add the year and other info to your profile or add it to this thread.

Is your backup light switch on that fuse? I was blowing that fuse when I had my backup light switch installed incorrectly. Might check the wires there to see if something is up.

check this thread lots of pictures. The switch is on the drivers side of the transmission. The pictures are for 1968-78 so yours will be different. But I think it’s in the same place.

Next, call your chiropractor and schedule an appointment.
You may have a bad turn signal switch but before we jump to any conclusions lets test some more.
Follow the purple wire to where it enters the harmonica connection and remove it.
Install a new fuse and with the key ON does the fuse still blow?

Had the same problem. Ended up being a jacked up bulb socket that was allowing the terminal to hit ground every now and then. All my bulbs worked so it was the last thing I looked at,

About to start looking at this again. If it was a bulb, would I still have my hazard lights? Are they different bulbs?

so I went out tonight and disconnected the accordion connector under the dash and the fuse still blows when I try to engage the turn signal lever. I'm confused, how could it still blow? I also had all of the corner lamps removed. Any ideas?
