Soft top installation on my 71 C3
Hi,
I was wondering, is there a step by step guide to help me out installing my soft top on to my frame?
Or should I find someone that could do it for me ?
I live in the Montreal Area.

It is a super PIA, and one prime thing you need watch is the dimensions of any top you buy, I got one once some years ago that was way in hell too short on the vertical measure of the side windows, so the canvass caught the windows upon closing.....
I recommend you get a pro to do it.....someone with corvette experience on C3.....tip of the day, no matter WHAT you do not mess with any frame adjustments like I did trying to get the canvas to fit better, you leave it the hell alone, it's fitting the side windows and allowing the doors to open/close with glass UP that's ciritical...and critical that it seals correctly on the rubber......
so the new top has to be layed over the old top and check those dimensions, it will take two people...do that before you remove the old top.....

the thing is... my car never had a soft top since 1973... My grandfather removed it and he was only using a hard top. I guess it's gonna be a long day trying to get that thing on the car.

Let a pro handle it. From my experience, you might save some money buying the top online and then find someone to install it. But there are two issues that might come up. First, the guy installing it usually adds some of his profit into the top itself plus the install. If you cut that out from him he either 1) might not want to do the install or 2) will raise the install price. The second issue might be if the top you buy ( as mentioned above) doesn't fit. That will open another can of worms. Good luck.

Here is the "How To", I used:

Quite doable, as always, some patience and persistence helps with any C3 project.
Here is another that I used as a reference too:

I did mine, the pads were harder than the top. It’s not relaxing work though.
if you get the Cd from Ed Kotch in Texas and watch it 10 times you will know enough
to begin . My top fit perfect.
