Default 1969 350 350 oil consumption

I have not used the car much recently only taking it for 30 minute rides, I have noticed oil down each time I came back. I have been using Lucas 10-30 with zinc, I haven't noticed any smoke coming from car, should I use a different oil.

1. intake manifold leak ... sucking oil from valley into port(s) ... try gently tightening intake bolts ... maybe replace intake gaskets.

2. valve stem seals old and leaking ... replace seals ... relatively easy DIY.

3. too much wear between valve stems & valve guides ... perhaps shop install guide liners (e.g. k-line) or oversized stem valves.

also check for leaking rear main seal, oil pan gasket, front timing cover seal / gasket.

I agree with jackson. The first thing I would do is a compression check and if everything is ok there, valve stem seals. Cheap and easy.

I have never owed a Chevy that didn't consume more oil than other brands. Just sayin...…….

How many miles? How many years on valve seals. Even bad guides will be bubbaliciously corrected by new seals.

The car has 70,000 miles I don't know if the motor has ever been rebuilt, I was also wondering if I should keep using the Lucas 10 30 oil with zinc.

You could try a thicker oil but you may still have oil consumption. I would pull a spark plug and check them for oil residue. I had World Class Sportsman cylinder heads that I got used and threw them on my motor and my oil consumption went up. Upon closer inspection there wasnt any seals on the stems....at all. I brought them into my local shop and he machined them for Viton seals. Problem was gone. And definitely get under the car and look for oil pan gasket, front and rear main seals and valve cover seepage. These things are like the old Harleys

After 50 years, original VS seals are likely cracked / crumbling or have simply fallen away.
