not there yet...again doyouknow what capacity is? I would add 80% of that...and watch gauges for freak...

agree with comment on that heater **** off..my 79 i can see behind glove box it needs to hit that switch to stop water...
so having slight gap to left makes sense as you want it to push that switch

My temp slider would slide to the right because of vibration... and would open the switch, allowing the water to flow through. My resolution, was to install the manual shut off.

mom not sure on the capacity. Mines an 81.
But it seemed like all of the posts I’ve read about various years, they’ve all had luck with 2.5 cans to 3.5 cans. I’m probably between 2.5 and 3.
Not really for sure though because I let my dad put the fitting on the last new can and he had the valve open and it started spraying refrigerant everywhere. Lol

and i will for sure install a shut off valve for my heater hose.

My 79 says 3 pounds.. so."
About 85% is about 41 ounces... so you are 3.5 x 12= 42...not counting what you lost so...close....

get some air moving drive it pit on max ac recirculate and see if it cools cabin? Maybe the conversion is as good as it gets with same condenser oriface

That’s about 60% humidity. My 134 a chart says that at 90* and 60% humidity you should be max 49 low side and 390 high side. This would give you a duct temp of about 66*.

so you’re saying that it’s normal for the temp slider not to be all the way left as it can be?

Yes I got it working pretty good. Freon in and no leaks, so that’s good. I thought it might be cooler than it is. I get it that it’s a 38yo car and system, but just thought it would be colder.

It also seems there’s not enough air coming out of the front vents. You can feel most coming through the dash vents, but also feel cold air coming from under the dash where the heat would be coming out.
Not sure what to do about that.
This car is kicking my butt. Lol

Its the controller in the car for heat vent ac etc...and hot and cold..
the switch triggers the vacuum actuators which was leaking on mine causing only floor blowing, now it blows as it should where i want it, and the vents blow hard

Ok now I understand. To be completely honest, I have not even moved it to any other selection other than max ac. I have no idea if it works on the other settings. Haha
looks like that might be what I’m doing today

Well I messed with the car this morning, and it actually works great through all the controls. And in fact, the defrost and heat seem to blow out harder than the vents in the dash. And also, the 2 little vents in the middle, it only blows out of one of them.
So could there be something wrong with the duct work?
