I am this close to getting rid of this money pit that I own. I know that most of you have been working on your project a lot longer than I have. What do you do to keep motivated! I just cant seem to stay ahead of the breakdowns. I fix three things and five more break... Uggghhh! Seems to me the end will only be when the beast is gone...
No that I am through ranting... I will head back to the garage and cuss some more!!!
When I get to "the brink", I walk away for awhile. Assuming your '78 is not your daily driver - and that it is basically a toy or hobby - put it down - leave it alone. Come back to it later when you WANT to ...
When I'm depressed/angry about my '78. I just think back to the guy who walked into a sign post while watching me drive by. Call me cruel but I always can't help but laugh when I think about it. It's those little things that make the effort worth it.
I did just that. Walked away from it for most of the summer.. Got back in it last week and blam!!! :smash: more problems... Maybe thats the problem, dont know if this is my hobby or toy. Right now only a pain in the butt...
I know :nopity :nopity :nopity . Wonder what the garage would look like empty!
My car is my daily driver and it is funny how they break when you are not even driving them. I just got back from a vacation overseas I jump in the car and now my PS assy is leaking, my speedo is not working and only one headlight will come up.
So I have decided to buy another so this one will get jealous and not break down.
First of all, it's a HOBBY !! so it wouldnt be any fun if you didn't have to work on it. Second of all, try washing it! I am so inept and get so frustrated with the simplest mechanical stuff.... I can usually get a feeling of satisfaction by washing the darn thing! MJ
Hang in there! Hey, you can handle it, you drive a winged sprint after all- that shows you've got "BIG *****". You race, so you should be used to fixin' stuff, right? Don't worry we have all felt that way at one time. You will "catch up to it" with a little persistance.
I know where you’re coming from, my '68 has been off the road for restoration more than it has been on. I would break down all too frequently and decided I had to make a decision.
1. Sell the car. If I did this I would never be able to afford another one.
2. Completely restore it. This is what I am doing, yes its taking me forever. Although ever single part is touched and repainted or plated. Every single nut and bolt is has loctite applied and torqued per spec. I hope when I am complete I can then finally drive my car anywhere with confidence.
Good luck, and don’t sell it you will most likely regret it later.
Go take a honda for a test drive and look around at all the people admiring the car
Oh that did it.. Thanks gang!.. Looks like a rebuild!

The big ***** come into play when the wing comes off.. You would be surprised how much easier it is to drive with the wing on! Thanks for the vote of confidence!! :D
