Default 1969 hood tweak...

Well, I guess it was bound to happen. I just installed an EFI and >POP< the hood cable lets go:

Nuttin' serious. From what I can tell there must have been a little lock or something at the end of it that popped off.

I think it will be easy enough to fab a replacement stopper... but before it popped the hood was acting strange. The passenger side would seat properly. The driver side would not go down without a little bit of a struggle.

Hmmm - when I reinstall the stopper, is there some pre-load that needs to be exerted ? The pin seems to be bashing the lock plate...

Lol, I just went through this ordeal. I made a cable stop. I adjusted the hood release cable to remove the slack. I then adjusted all the slack out of the cross connect cable. I also adjusted the hood pins on each side to align with the hood locks. Trial and error process. Good luck.

Edit: I didn't use any preload on the cross connect cable but checked to make sure that the cross connect cable full opens the latches. Looks like you need to align the hood pins. They are also adjustable for hood height by turning the slot at the top with a screwdriver and lock the adjustment at the bottom of the hood pin.

the original stop looked like a lawnmower throttle stop. I dont have any preload on my 68. I did use Willcox hood alignment tool to make sure the pin hits the hole square

Wilcox alignment tool ? Cool ! I got to look into that.

i reconnected the cable and placed two lock nuts on the end rather than one. I tweaked things around a little a bit and it seems to work well.
