I'm replacing the bushings on the front sway bar. I marked it before taking it off, so I know its the way it was.
The problem is getting the new link bolt bushings to compress enough to get the top rubber, washer, and then nut
on.
I looked at the ends of the bar and notice that each side sits at an angle, with the inside a little higher than the outside. I would expect them to be level?
Here comes the uh-huh question?
Could the po have put the bar on upside down?
See pic. See how the very end is twisted upward slightly.
Yes, I used the flattened old bushing to get the washer and nut on. I thought I might be able to compress the new ones enough to fit the new top rubber bushing in a few days??
Very good possibility its up-side-down. Sure doesn't look natural.
When I changed my bushings out, I changed one side at a time so I had a reference / comparison.
But in your case, bubba might not have done that.

If you've jacked up only one wheel then this wheel is hanging and the other is loaded so the bar can't be pulled down to put on the nut
If both are up and the bar is disconnected then pull the bar down, it'll rotate in the frame bushings to suit
