I pulled my engine and apparently didn’t pay enough attention to how my exhaust manifold connects to my exhaust. I don’t think my heat riser is the correct one, as mine has a beveled side. Is there supposed to be a gasket between the bevel and the exhaust flange and if so what is it called or look like?
Yes, I agree. But I'm trying to determine who to make the one I have work. I think it just mounts directly to the flanged exhaust pipe, but I can't see how that will not leak.
Any chance these are available at a local parts store? I was really hoping to get it put back together tonight.
Thank you,
Keith
Not a chance....try a Corvette supplier near you?
You probably won’t find a factory heat riser either....
A lot of people simply cut the valve out and plug the side holes....but kinda ugly....
You could just put that one back on but it is in poor shape overall....
I recommend the spacer, gasket and new brass nuts.......
funny I literally just did this 3 hours ago..ebay spacer, ran without it for year donut to flat manifold...put it together check clearance order spacer
37 bucks delivered https://www.ebay.com/itm/27384966781...53.m2749.l2649
came..had to grind holes open like oem..NO leaks no gasket flat to flat..donut below, old one worked..
agree get spacer..i ran without spacer and it still sealed but bothered me the pipe was higher than the drivers side..
i heard earlier years did have a gasket?
After trying to make what I have work, I still had leaks. In fact, both side had leaks. So I put a new donut on the driver side and am going to order this delete to fix the passenger side. Do I need the "sleeve" if I use this space? The reason I ask is because I actually put the sleeve on the drivers side (guess I didn't realize where it was supposed to go) and have no leaks on that side now. I really hate to have to pull this apart if I don't have to.
The biggest issue I have is the exhaust just doesn't line up easily and disconnecting it from the hangers will be a task. Whomever put in the back hangers thought it was a good idea to weld the nut to the bolt. So I would have to cut the bolts off, which would require removing a lot of stuff to get to it.
So, long post to ask if the sleeve is required on the riser side.
