Which electric fan are you using?
Right now I am thinking I am gonna go the electric way. I have a vibration in my fan that comes in around 2000RPM. I know it is my fan because I removed the fan and ran the motor and the vibs are gone. Now I am thinking the electric fans are the way to go. Which fan are you guys using. I want something that is going to be reliable and keep me cool.
I have installed aluminum pulleys that take up most of the snout on my water pump so a new fan is out. There is only about 1/8 inch of the snout sticking out for the clutch to align on.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I went with these:
I lied, I actual have these:
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...57#largerimage
Only 2 1/4" thick.
SPALS is supposed to be the best but for about half the price these are working great even with about 400 hp.
I decided not to get the thermostat since it was the thermometer type and I had bad luck with them in the past. I have it hard wired to a switch for now but plan on wiring for automatic turn on when I switch to TPI.

And for 1/2 that price again, you can go with Late model Camaro fans: http://www.corvettefaq.com/redir.asp?site=358

I use dual Flex-a-Lite + single PermaCool 16" HP fan (2950 cfm)...
The PermaCool actually cools better than the Flex-a-Lite duals.. for half the price.. I'm actually thinking in removing my Flex-a-Lite duals and adding a second PermaCool fan...

Re: Which electric fan are you using? (GrandSportC3)
I bet the problem you are having is that you have the duals as pushers not pullers, that kills their efficiency. I had the same single fan as you as a puller and it did not work as well as the duals as pullers.

Hi GrandSportC3,
Since you had experience with both Permacool and Flex-a-lite . What is your recommend for my 69 , Permacool one fan or two?, same with flex-a-lite one or dual , push or pull and what kind of wiring kit and bracket and fitting requirement? I am really appreciated. on the process of ordering :smash:

I usually only run with the permacool fan running and the Flex-a-Lites are switchable.. In Winter I never turn on the Flex-a-Lites.. I personally like to have more than one fan.. just in case if one breaks.. you still have another one... but for cooling alone - one should be enough

I run the Permacool 16". Originally had a flex fan on with the billet pulleys and after one 6000 rpm blast, the fan was wobbling.

Question??? I see that the FLX 210 is the recommended dual fan setup for my '72 smallblock. Do I need anything else beyond what comes with the fans?? Ecklers sells a kit (overpriced of course), but also requires a "dual fan harness" = $50, and a cooling fan switch = $40. Are these additional parts needed??

Dual Spals from DeWitts! So far one of the best improvements I've made on my car. It works great even with my old copper radiator, on at 195 off at 175.

I use a single 16" fan that I got used for $45.00 plus a painless wiring harness. Never crack 185 degrees on a mostly stock 350ci. The best thing about an electic fan is getting rid of the factory fan shroud. I actually have room to work in the engine bay and can pull the radiator in just a few minutes.

I went with the Spalls and a Griffen HP rad... even on the hottest days my car comes up to temp, and stays there. I can idle all day long in 100 + degrees without a worry. Definately a good decision in my book. Yeah it cost a little more, but I'll prob never worry about cooling again!!

Dual 90-96 Corvette fans & shroud. Available at swap meets for $70-160. Replace both motors with new GM motors and off you go. It will cool well over 400 HP in sunny Florida when using an aluminum radiator.

I using dual electric fans out of a '95 Z28 . I had to slightly modify the fan s to get them to fit. they push a lot of air and the engine never overheats. The best part about the fans is they were specifically designed for the LT1 engine.
