Default Draining My Fuel Tank

So far, I have drained 15 gallons from my 26 gallon tank (1980 L48). The fuel that I have removed is nearly clear with a light, yellow color. I expected to see 'junk' in it. I am running the fuel through a filter funnel. Not finding any junk or water.

I have 10 gallons to drain (into 5-gallon cans). I will probably empty one of the three 5-gallon cans I filled so far into my truck as I have run it through the filter funnel. The fuel I am draining is pretty fresh. I need to crack my fuel filter open to see what it is trapping as it gets 'clogged'. It may be that the fuel lines are rusting and that may explain the clean fuel in tank. The tank is original so it probably has the HDPE liner intact. The new tank kit I bought has no HDPE liner.

Wanted to share an update. If fuel tank proves to be clean, I may go ahead and install the new as it includes a new sender (mine stopped working) and other replacement items. Got it from Top Flight.

If your 80 is like earlier C-2 and C-3s, the sock on the sender may be clogged. You won't know until you remove it. Jerry

pics of filter? Magnetic debris?
if fuel lines original ..betting that is issue..
You should be able to see inside your tank and take pics

so you can look at them with light...for debris, you will not see anything by siphon unless on the bottom..
look here for my pics and filter

Just get one of those ebay inspection cameras and give your tank a colonoscopy to see if there is any (S) in it...
Might want to dip it in a can of fuel first to make sure nothing melts...Mine is OK..
