I had a spark all way long. I found what was the issue. My neighbor was helping me over last few days. As we worked on the car, we connected and disconnected starter harness several times. It’s an old harness, partially broken, so I think he probably connected it in a wrong way. Once I fixed this everything worked as it should.
Starting Spray (Diethyl Ether) is a great fluid for starting cold 4 stroke engines. It does not require a SPARK to ignite. It can ignite using compression alone, it is used in diesel engines very often. I hear people often say that if the engine runs on Starting Spray then the problem must be Fuel delivery related.
Starting Ppray will auto ignite at a lower temperature of 320* (F) which is attainable with a good healthy engine cranking over. If there is no ignition source this spray can and will ignite when in a compressed cylinder.
The point being that with an engine with no ignition the Starting Spray will still ignite and make the engine appear to run.
"Historically, Diethyl ether, with a small amount of oil, a trace amount of a stabilizer and a hydrocarbon propellant has been used to help start internal combustion engines because of its low 160 °C (320 °F) autoignition temperature." Sourced from Wikipedia
