O/T--enough salt already!!!
Man they have dumped so much salt on the roads near me this year. The blacktop is now whitetop. When a car goes by you can see the dust cloud trailing behind. Theres also plenty of spots where the trucks must have sat idle for a while leaking and left piles laying there. I think Ill pull up and jump out with a shovel and bucket and grab a couple of scoops for my driveway when I need it. Needless to say its gonna take some significant spring rains to wash this all away clean so I can feel comfortable to take my vette out again. I got a feeling its gonna be parked for a while now. I guess ill have to yearn for that first spring drive. :yesnod:

Ditto up here in Toronto. Previous mild winters have spoiled us. Salt must be cheap the way our road crews are dumping it everywhere! Good news here is that it is supposed to "warm up" in a few days. By "warm up" they mean be just a few degrees below the freezing point rather than far below it as it has been lately!
Can't wait for summer!

Boy you have said a mouthful, Here in Penna, the entire roads are white with salt. And the dustcloudes from the speeding trucks and cars covers everything. My green daily driver is almost gray with the dust on it. And I need to get the vette to a shop in a week or so. This is a real problem as I won't take the vette out in these condition. I don't know what I'm going to do?

Same thing in Illinois. Half my blacktop driveway is white. Piles of salt at every intersection from stopped trucks. I agree that it is going to take some MAJOR rainfall to wash all this crap away. I'd hose it off my driveway but the temp ouitside is 20 degrees.

Salt - the lesser of two evils.
They do not use salt in my town, due to the fact that everyone pulls their
drinking water out of the ground. I do see tons of salt in other communities,
but not at home. So, GREAT - you say ? NOT.
Wherever they didn't put salt, there are a few inches of ice on the road.
I know. I drive uphill on ice every morning. Sure, they lay sand on top of it -
but that isn't quite enough. You still slip. To top it all off, I drive 60 miles/day
on the highway. The Gunmetal Metallic Buick is slowly turning an off-white.
