Default 7178 main caps?

Does anyone know if these came on 350s in 1968 or just on 327s? All the info online indicates these were 327 mains. I have an engine that the seller claimed was a 67 327. The numbers and letters (HH) on the front stamp pad indicate that it is a 300hp 350 from a 1969 full size chevy model. The rear casting is a 1968 only 3914678 block. This would indicate a block made in 1968 for a 69 model. However, I used an inspection camera through the oil pan drain hole, and it has 7178 main caps. All the info I have found is that these were 327 caps both in small and medium size journal. I cant see the date code on the passenger backside of the block. So back to my original question: Did 350s in 1968 come with 7178 main caps? I am ok either way, and bought the vehicle assuming it was the 350 engine. It also has 305 HO heads (puke) so I cant go off the head castings for any clues.

Default 68

My 68 SS350 Camaro was the first use of the new 350 and supposedly had steel crank and 4 bolt mains. 295HP.

I should have indicated that these main caps are 2 bolt.

It's a medium journal, 2 bolt block. The 68-69 medium journal 327 or the 350 crank will fit it. Casting date would help here. Heads have been swapped so anything is possible.

The casting date code is D 16 8 which is April 16th, 1968.
