Default Assembly Manuals

Hi Everyone, my AIM CD just arrived (the one in the picture) and it seems very incomplete. For example, it contains nothing on most interior assemblies, door mechanisms or even the park brake shoe assemblies (it has the cables and hand lever). Just wondering if there any better AIMs out there or supplements that cover other assemblies?
Thanks in advance.

Ordered one through Amazon for my 75 and got a C2 assembly manual, interesting read, but I don’t have a C2. Ordered another one through NCRS and it is a 75 assembly manual.

You need to remember that a lot of these cars came as sub-assemblies from the suppliers and that's why they aren't really talked much about in the AIM. (The entire trailing arm was supplied to the line already together minus the wheel really) So they don't get into the front bushings being swagged or the bearing setup or the parking brake pads, springs etc. Only how to install the arm into the car and hook up the rest of the parts (brake cable, shock, strut rod etc)
Oddly enough, on mine it does go into great detail on how the seat covers are installed onto the foam... I guess the seat assembly was done in-house surprisingly enough

For more detailed information on the actual operation of the systems and how to fix them, the chassis service manual would be my suggestion

You might want to check the page numbers at the bottom of the page. I have a 69 and the pages are numbered J1,J2, etc up to J447 and there no missing numbers.
As mentioned some assemblies were sent to the factory completely assembled and were installed as a unit.
In my AIM the doors go from J156 to J170 with all of the hardware being installed on the assembly line.
Since you have a 70 you should have almost the same documentation since the cars did not change that much in one year.
In one of the first pages there should be an index (Contents) that lists subassemblies and the pages on where to find them.

You could also get a Chassis service manual, a Chassis overhaul manual, and a Fisher Body Service Manual.
I have all four with the AIM. That is all there is.

Makes sense. I have the AIM for an '80 and it is a lot more comprehensive so I just assumed the earlier ones would be the same. Thank you for the tip on the chassis service manual, I'll track one down.
