Ok I give, 700 shift plate mod
I hear it is easy, but would like to know just what is involved and what to do. I just want to mod my existing shift plate in 79 L-82. I put in a 700R4 and want to get to first gear. Is it as simple as filing/cutting back the rear edge to allow the shifter notch tooth to go farther back?

heres the link the detent picture is in this....i had the two detents are reverse images accidentally just print the picture and cut it out and then turn it over so you can compare them to each other
