1980 L48 auto here. I removed both tires during a header install and replaced the steering box and upper steering column bearing while I was at it.
Yesterday when I put the tires on and started down the road I heard a knock from the front that was proportional to speed- knock knock knock... Then after checking and not really seeing anything I brought the car up to speed and dont hear it anymore. What could it have been? Bearings? Brakes are good.
TIA,
Ken
Maybe a wheel wasn't seated correctly and was cocked on the hub centric section when you tightened the lugs, then centered itself after a bit. If that is the case you now have loose lugs on that wheel.
