Default 1971 body mount kit question

How many stepped aluminum washers are supposed to be in the kit? It seems like mounts 1 & 4 should have them given the size of the hole in the frame mount. My kit only has 2 stepped washers. All the rest are flat. The originals were dust so no help there.

#1 and #4 mounts have shims between the body and large aluminum spacer. #2 and #3 the shims go under the large aluminum spacer between the body mount.

Thanks for your reply. I'm aware of how to place the shims where required. My question is where do the two aluminum washers with the raised step go. There are 4 possible locations at mounts 1&4.

Done some looking at kits online and it seems that the kit is correct having 6 flat aluminum mounts and 2 with the raised step. Just need to know where the 2 stepped ones go.

If you look closer at the AIM you will see the #1 and #4 body mount spacers are a different part number 3973897. As #2 and #3 is 3972886. So #1 and #4 each side has the raised lip to fit into the larger opening in the frame body mount at those positions. It is also why the body shims are place differently with the raised lip then the ones without.

That what I thought. Makes sense. But all of the kits seem to come with only two of the spacers with the raised lip. Strange.

I ran into this question also when I did my 69 body off a few years ago. In my 69 assembly manual, a close look says those two different mounts go in the #1 and #4 position on the driver side only. I only had 2 mounts that were different, not four. I assume your 71 uses the same aluminum pucks my 69 does.

My 71 does use the aluminum pucks. Using one of the stepped pucks on the #1 and one on the #4 position is what I ended up doing. It was the only way that made sense to me.Thanks for your input.
