Default first post - looking for online tech videos

Hi, first post here, new C3 owner as of 2 weeks.

I'm mainly looking for some good youtube resources for little projects I can complete on the car. For example, the courtesy lamp in the glove compartment isnt hooked up. The wiring is there and the lamp housing is as well, but the on/off switch wasnt installed. None of the courtesy lights are working, so thats one little project I'd like to do myself. Some thing I don't have tools to do, like the AC not working, so I'd take to a trusted local guy I know.

Thanks for any help and insight.

Welcome to the group!
You should fill out your profile, so we know what year C3 your working on. The GM electrical troubleshooting manual is a really nice resource to have as well as the AIM for your year Corvette. The AIM is an assembly manual with drawings to show how the car is assembled....I refer to mine all the time.

The "Sticky's" posted at the top of each section are really good for reading to understand and repair your car....plus many things are on Youtube, so you just need to search for your topic and something will pop up.

Here's a link to a 1977 Electrical troubleshooting manual.....

Thanks for the reply. Sorry, I should have listed my car make and model. 72 convertible base.

I'd specifically searched for how to install the glovebox switch, as I think it requires drilling a hole in the box frame to mount the switch, but not finding much in the way of how to videos for this specifically.

I have bought the AIM and another book. How to restore your C3 I think is the name. Im not at my house at the moment, but once I get back home I'll start looking through those.

Welcome to the Forum!

For general C3 stuff, if TheCorvetteBen has covered a fix on his YouTube channel, that's likely to be really helpful. Here's a good one, queued up to the fan shroud bit:

Willcox Corvette also posted some stuff that I'd 100% trust. Sadly, the owner passed away, and the website that had 10 times as many FAQs and quick fixes is no longer online.

Other than that, there are hundreds of folks who post videos. Lots of them are really good. You can usually tell once you understand what's going on.

Some wiring diagrams are here, if you don't have one.

Oh, and when you are ready to breathe some life into your car by setting the timing correctly (follow @lars ' instructions, not what's in your shop manual), this is the best video I've ever found on how to time your car.
