I just finished looking at the old thread titled “C3 Aftermarket seat fitment resource thread” on here. Based on the dimensions mentioned, unless I missed something, I’m thinking these will fit (1971 convertible). But, just want to make double sure. Can someone who is “in the know” look at the dimensions in the pic below and give me feedback as far as fitment? I sure hope so as these are budget friendly and I sure do like the looks of them. Thanks!
Great that you searched for and ran across the fitment thread. I can't directly answer your question about your particular choice, but if you saw my post about Recaros with a tilting control mechanism, I had to saw off one half of the tilt mechanism control on ( think) the passenger console side. I sold them to a member here and I don't have a clear picture of the modified seat. Driver's seat went in unmodified and there seems to be more room on that side. The control on those seats was some kind of wheel and these seem to be the before and after. If you can tilt from either side, I would guess you would be OK to remove what doesn't fit. Sorry I don't have dimensions for you.
Thank you for the explanation and pics ignatz! I think I could handle doing as you had on those Recaro's. I like how you covered the shaft afterwards as well. Hoping someone else can/will still chime in on the dimensions after lookung at them to further reinforce my thinking that these will work. Thanks again! 😀
EDIT: I just looked at your post again (it had been a bit) and really like how you mapped out your mounts by using cardboard. The under floorboard reinforcements as well. Gonna have to copy you on that stuff for sure!

Not sure of what mounting base these seats come with, but an option might be using the oem brackets and making an adapter for these seats to bolt onto. It might be easier that trying to work with the floors we have in the C3 with the divots for the seat bets etc.. The other advantage you might take advantage of is offsetting these seats on the oem brackets to give you a little more room if you need it. Those are ideas I picked up when I put C4 seats in my 78. Good looking seats BTW.

Thanks for the additional ideas kanvasman! Here's a pic of the tracks they come with. I'm going to take ignatz approach with the cardboard. Between that, the new seat tracks and the old, I can then figure how to best go about it with all of those data points. I'll definitely post up once I do. Yes and thanks on the look of the seats. The quilted part too me has kind of a 70's race car vibe. 😀
kanvasman has the right idea. If I were to do this again, I would mount an intermediate plate bolted to the original holes in the floor and another set of bolts tied to the seat. That would have to first be mocked up with cardboard to check clearances.
Earlier in my car's history I had bolts threaded in from the bottom of the car for an outright racing seat. I could put that in and out quickly because all I had to do was spin a nut on and off.
For me though nothing was adjustable which made things easier. Lots of ways to go!

go!
That’s exactly what I had in mind! Great minds think alike. In my ‘69, I had made a template using cardboard, that aligned with the original seat bolt holes, then had a shop fab plates that ran to the mounting points for Kirkey seats. Only this time the will run to the adjustable tracks.
Good luck with the upgrade. I’m sure it’ll look great 👍🏼
Thank you! 😉 It may be a bit. I plan ahead, think things through and make really, really sure before slapping those hard earned funds down. But, really thinking those are the seats I'll go with.
How tall are you? The issue will be not the width but the seat base height. I’m 6’ and I had to remove the sliders and go with Planted seat brackets to lower the seat height down. My head was literally above the roof.

If you want to keep your sliders you may have go to a low profile type of seat bracket. The sliders are moved more inboard resulting in the seat fitting over the mounting brackets. Looking back at your seat measurements. You really want seats with a base height of 2.5”. I see those seats are 4”.

When you say keep my sliders, do you mean the originals or the one’s supplied with the new seats? Did you fab the brackets in the pic? If so, nice work! I think I can deal ok with the 1.5” difference in seat height, but thanks for bringing that to my attention. A lot to consider!
I meant keeping sliders in general as they will raise your seats by that height. You also have to consider the backrest height. Measure from the floor to the roof. Then add bracket and slider height to that equation.
Those brackets I showed you are from Speed Direct.
BTW, I’ve already been down this road and can tell ya from experience….
I see. Yes, I greatly appreciate that your input is coming from experience. Ok, gotchya on the “keeping sliders in general part” and the backrest height concerns. Nice to know Speed Direct offers those brackets too, in case that’s the route I want to go vs fabbing something. Yours looks great man! That shot/pic shows a very clean look, which I am a big fan of. Nice job brother!
Thanks again for your input and taking the time to do so.
