While diagnosing why my 82 would not stop running when I turned the key off and trying to figure out why my battery light would not work I discovered that the new replacement bulb holders had a serious flaw in them. As you can see from this photo if you use the new replacement (black one) it will clock further than the OEM holder on the left and this can move the contacts off the area of the circuit board where bare copper is resulting in the light not working.
A view from the top you can also see the contacts that make the connection to the circuit board are longer on the OEM holder on the left.
I soaked some of the OEM holders in white vinegar (left one) and that cleaned up the green corrosion from all the contact points. I'll put a dab of dielectric grease on all the bulbs and contact points when reassembling the refreshed OEM holders.

Reason: 82 has a battery symbol not GEN
Here you can see both sockets are the same orientation.
Here you can see the gray OEM holder the contact is well inside the circuit board contact surface and the aftermarket black on is right on the edge in an area that may not make contact at all. So they are garbage and avoid buying them.
While I was working on the dash I pulled the instrument cluster out to change the holders out for the refurbished OEM holders and two of the black holders just fell out... they are garbage.
