Replaced the driver's side mount with the energy suspension poly mounts.
Car drives a lot smoother just going down the road, let alone no fan-shroud grinding when giving the car hard acceleration. I was surprised that the engine mount changed how the car drove, but it REALLY smoothed it out.
Ended up taking 3 hours, we were having trouble getting the block-bolts to go in, specifically the one that is threaded through the power steering pulley. Other than that, everything is working great. Can't wait to get headers, I just want to avoid that under-mount routing entirely methinks.
Will do the other one next week, when I'm less sun-burnt. :)
I really appreciate the positive report because I currently have a broken engine mount on the drivers side AND a suspect vibration. I have a pair of Energy Suspension engine mounts and transmission mount that I have been awaiting installation since December.
You have motivated me. Perhaps I'll have it done before Fall! :D
You're going to love new mounts. I've had them done in a few cars including my Vette. I didn't go with the Engergy ones, just rubber, but I was already having a lot of other work done by Van Steel and was running out of money. Van Steel isn't too expensive, my car needed a lot of work I didn't want to do myself! :smash:
But don't let the shop do it. It's a really simple job and you can DIY in a short amount of time. Make sure to lift the hood. When I finally got the new mount bolted to the block, the hood would not shut. It was sitting about 1/4" higher than normal at the center. I really worry about the guy who was trying to jack his motor up against the hood!!!
I'll tell you how it goes once I have poly on both sides.
