Hi all. New user here. Question: What is everyone using for a spare tire? I went to get the original replaced, but can't get the goofy sized 195/80/15. And I hear that a full sized tire (225/70/15) will not fit in the carrier. This true? Thanks for any input.
Dont keep a spare. It adds weight. And besides, if your classic vette ever breaks down, you will have people flocking to help you. It happened to me before- pull off on the side of the road and next thing you know, everybody in the world is a corvette fan and used to own a vette and is willing to help you out.

I use the Polyspare but they are rather common at any good size swap meet and usually in good quality.

The original size tire has to fit, what do you do if you have a flat? You install the spare, then what about the original tire? It has to go into the carrier, or else you will be straping it on the top of the car :)

The gas tank was enlarged in 78. The main thing was to have the car look different in 78. Maybe they can put it in the back w/ the fastback. They could leave their girlfriend sitting on the flat one though the girlfriend & tire may be gone ... by the time return.
Welcome to the forum. I looked at the condition of my spare, and it was crap. I tried all the tire stores, and I tried Coker tire (who have every size, from every era) and they didn't have the goofy 'Vette size. I decided to chuck it, save the weight, and now I carry a can of Fix-A-Flat in the tubs behind the seats. Fortunately, I haven't needed to use it, but I figure in a bind, I could limp to a service station and get a ever-availaible BFG Radial T/A. Best of Luck with the car
You might want to buy a new can of Fix-o-flat every so often. They seem to lose pressure after a certain amount of time. I've tried to use some that I had around too long and the liquid inside just kinda oozed out when I put in on a tire valve.
I'm posting this for anyone stumbling on the early thread like I had looking for a spare. 195/80 15 spares are available overseas but I was able to order one ('195/80R15 96H FALKEN') in the US from FastLaneTires - call Rick 724-539-8705. At the time of posting he still has 15 in stock.
