OT - Somebody stop me ! (Fords at Carlisle)
I'm heading to Carlisle this saturday, for the Ford weekend. I'm always tempted, because if I sell the '76, I'll have the $$$ for that '68 fastback.
You guys are a large part of the reason I've been hangin' in with the vette. As my post states, I love it...but it sure grows wearisome working on it instead of driving...but lurking here and seeing the great results you people eventually get....well, enough rambling...thanks for the ear, guys. (and gals!)

Never been a big fan of anything but the boss stang. When you admit to yourself that you are keeping the vette becaus of the lines, and the fact that it is a vette, you will sleep a lot easier. Good god it's late and I am still drinkin.

TRADE THE VETTE FOR A RUSTANG!!!!!???????? Have you lost your mind?
I'm a car lover and can appreciate almost any car. But what kind of responce do you expect to get on the Corvette Forum?
Do what ever makes you happy, but the line of people is forming to slap some sense into you ;)

Re: OT - Somebody stop me ! (76Frankenstein)
I own both. The Mustang ('69 Mach1) hasn't ever been on the road since I've owned it! The vette always starts and drives pretty much flawlessly. My wife is the Mustang lover of the family and also owns several. They seem to be in the shop more often than they drive. Of course, all of this isn't really Ford's fault. It's more the fault of previous owners and the fact that the cars are 30+ years old. The main reason my Mustang isn't on the road, is that I've been too lazy to finish painting the engine compartment and reinstall the engine. :leaving:

Finance, baby!
I have both, and each has it's advantages. 68's are among my favorites as well, and I especially miss my GT/CS that got crushed by a tree! Heck, any hotrod is worth having, regardless of brand. My wish list includes a 'cuda and a '62 Impala for that 425/409 sittin' in the garage...
I guess I'm no help, huh?

Gee, thanks for all the <ahem> encouragement, guys. I'm gonna keep the vette so no slapping is needed, but thanks for the offer. Hmmm...had a "slapstick" in my 70 goat...I wonder....

Re: OT - Somebody stop me ! (76Frankenstein)
I know a lot about those old Mustangs because I badly wanted one to start. I looked for a while for a good one but didn't find anything. But then one day I had an epiphany. Why buy a Mustang when I can have a Corvette that won't have nearly as many problems. It looks better, handles better, can be made fast for less, and won't rust. Mustangs are illogical and would probably be more of a problem than the Corvette. They are neat looking cars and all, but really they were just cheap pieces of crap.

I hate to break it to you, but my BOSS will make the my vette look sick on a road course..All that power won't save it from the weight and balance problems. Now before everyone goes off on me, these are essentially stock cars suspension wise, and I KNOW there are faster vettes than my Mustang out there. That's what make going to the track so great. You gotta' put up when 'ya get there...

Mustangs are not sports cars, they were not designed to corner well. Sure, they make an okay family sedan that can move a bit in a straight line, but not much more... Well, to each their own. My karma says that I'll have it handed to me by a rusty old Mustang some day... :D
