Ignition Wire Looms
Any one have pics/recommendations for what to do for wire looms? I was going to try and reuse the original equipment setup with the chrome covers etc and I think I've decided to look at other options. This is for my new 383, if you have an idea let me know where I can buy the stuff if possible
I have the R&M looms, they are for 8mm wires but I drilled out the holders to 8.5 on a drill press. They look nice and keep the wires organized. Most hot rod shops carry them, also JEG's & Summit have them.
This is a pic of what we did on my buddie's 383 in his monte, I like to keep the wires as short as possible and up and away from any header heat.
Now on my big block in the vette I uses MSD 8.5mm wire and their new Pro Clamp wire seperators (summit part number msd-8843, still on backorder). Again short wires directed away from heat and very minimal bending, I try to stay away from sharp bends in the wire as this creates yet another spot where the wire will crack prematurely due to heat and stress. My 93 z28 is a good example of the worst possible situation for spark plug wire routing.

Re: Ignition Wire Looms (Red73)
Well, I couldn't get the R&M intime from Summit and I wa stalking to the guys at the shop that built my engine and they had the same as Red73's , so now I can build the wires. Thanks all:cheers:
Your pic is a little fuzzy, but do you have some kind of shield protecting a hose from coming in contact with your passenger-side header? (directly above the cap labeled "engine collant only") I have a soup can on my upper radiator hose performing a similar function. MJ
