I have been to that station before, just have to remember where exactly it is, sort of a 30's style if I remember. It was years ago that I was there but I saw a show that featured it over the winter. Will take a cruise around the area this week to see if I can find it then let you all know.
Greg ..... let me know asap, if we decide to use this other location I'll need time to make arrangements, change the maps, get permits etc.

Thanks,

Michael

I know you can see it from the 401 going west from Toronto. Its on the left hand side of the road. It looks to be a pretty big place it has a lot of old buildings. I always thought it was some kind of park like a pioneer village but just not that time period.

Thankyou 73Stingraycoupe and gdh. The place you were speaking of is called Country Heritage Park. I just got off the phone with the GM and they will be delighted to escort us in and help us with the photo shoot. There are "several" backdrops to choose from, I'm leaning toward having the vettes parked in front of an open air horse barn, currently being used to house a display of steam engines. I hope to get there with Steve (stpman) in the next week to finalize the photo location. They are going to charge us their minimum fee ($100) which for 25 cars is what we were going to be paying at the conservation area, and for the scenery I think we'll be better off at Country Heritage. Now, if we could just get a few more cars .... that would drop the "per car" price even more!

Lemme know if you have any other suggestions!

Michael, the "ante up" fee is per poker hand, right? Counting the passengers, you probably have more than 25 poker hands in line-up already.

Having done some of those roads with you, I can tell those who might be wavering that it's going to be a great event. Sign up!

You are correct Sir! Along with the 17 cars already signed up, there are 8 with passengers. Total "pot" $250. For those of you who have signed up, it is important to tell me if you will be bringing a "paying" passenger. We'll need to know to have enough cards etc. on hand.

As far as the photo shot goes, we will be asking $4.00 per car additional to cover the park fees (see earlier post) This way we don't have to touch the "pot" or the charitable donation.

Did you ever find that gas station? It's been too hot to take a drive down that way, maybe in the fall I'll go looking for it again but not in this heat.

Sure did Greg, that old gas station is a combo gas station/ford dealer display in Country Heritage Park. It's booked .... sure wish you were able to come .

I'll come for the photo shoots, but for obvious reasons will not be able to stay for the run, they are going to move Anne up to Owen Sound Hosp. for her stroke rehab, until then we have physio and OT's coming in the house.

Mike,

This is a nice location and I would be interested in individual car pics as well. Could you also post the time schedule and rules for the poker run. I just bought a polisher out to get the car ready. Thanks.

No problem, call this a post for all.

The start time is 900 am for registration, drivers meeting and 1st card should be completed around 930. Cars will roll out at 1 minute intervals with a set of directions to the next card stop. At this location you will pick up another card and a set of directions to the third stop. At the third stop you will get another card and we'll have time to partake in ice cream and conversation. Another set of directions will get you to the fourth card stop (and photo shoot.) This should be from approximately 12:30 to 1:30. After the photo's you'll get your last set of directions to the ultimate stop. East Side Mario's. We have the patio reserved from 2.00 till ?? This is where we will award the prize money and talk about how much fun we had, and what a swell guy I am. (thought I'd throw that in there)

Rules
YOU MUST BE PRE REGISTERED!!!, HERE OR BY E MAIL TO miked@equipmentexpress.com

1) This is not a race.
2) ** DWAYNE** Cards must remain in thier sealed envelopes, open envelopes mean void cards. Sealed envelopes must be handed in to organizers at the end of the run (your names will be on the envelopes)
3) This is not a race
4) No alcohol during the event
5) This is not a race
6) Obey all traffic laws, these routes will take you through some beautiful small towns and hamlets, we don't want to P off the residents as the vetters following will catch the crap!
7) This is not a race
8) Enjoy yourself, take in the scenery, even at speeds BELOW the limit each of the 4 legs will take less than 1/2 hour
9) You guessed it!
10) Each poker hand is $20.00 10 goes straight to our chosen charity (this year it is The Optimist Club) 10 goes to the "pot".
11) This is not a race!
12) A small fee ($4 per car) is required to participate in the photo shoot. This is not a money maker, we are being charged for the site and merely dividing the cost up between ALL participants. Excess will be returned or donated to charity, your call.
13) This is not a race!
14) The cards you pick up are the cards you play, no wild cards, no draws. In the unlikely event of a tie, the participants will cut a deck for high card for the win. Ace's are HIGH.

Most of all, relax and have fun. We hope to make this event an annual one, and this first one will lead the way!!

PLEASE ...... be sure to be at Dairy Queen at 9.00 SHARP on the 19th. If it is raining, the rain date is the next day,Sunday the 20th, same times.
