Why do I keep blowing fuses on My electric fan.
Hey, Twice this summer I have blown my inline fuse on the power wire of my Derale electic fan.I shouldn't say it blows the fuse because it really melts the fuse and the fuse holder. I run the correct size fuse recommened my Derale a 30amp.I think My problem might be that I'am getting My power supply from the alternator ? Some people on the forum said it was a good idea to do this.I had it hooked up to the starter like Derale said but that did'nt work out for some reason I just can't remember right now.Any ideas? Thanks, Dale

Idunno why, but the ONLY reliable 30 amp fuses are those more modern blade Green types...with holder to match...try that, IF you have the older 3AG style fuse with the silver tips...glass centers...the fuse holders themselves cause the fuse to get hot from poor connections, and then melt the lead solder internal to the fuse, and presto...open or bad fuse....
NOW if the fuses are actually melted in the center, as in black smudge and actually BLOWN.....you got a bad motor....
nothing at all wrong with the alternator hookup....
